These
are just the tip of an iceberg of reasons to "AskCTC",
the Hanson Center for Technical Communication's on-line writing
help desk. Think of AskCTC as a supplement to our sign-up appointment
schedule. We can help you at any hour of the day with specific
questions you may have about your assignment--you can even paste
into the body of your e-mail a particular phrase, sentence,
or paragraph you've written.
Short of visiting the Center in room 2224 SC for a sign-up
appointment, AskCTC is the best source on campus for engineering
students seeking practical and attentive answers to their
writing and presentation questions.
I
Ask...Who Answers?
Our
staff of peer consultants will respond in a timely manner
(within 24 hours on weekdays during the fall and spring semesters)
to your e-mailed queries and/or writing samples. We feel that
AskCTC is an ideal forum for modeling the practice of technical
communication. In many ways, the back-and-forth exchange of
ideas and possibilities mirrors the collaborative nature of
professional engineering...particularly when readers and writers
share the same discipline-specific interests and aspirations,
as do our peer consultants and their fellow engineers-in-training.
The
process couldn't be easier. Send us your questions and/or
writing samples pasted into the body of your message (no more
than one or two paragraphs) to:
askctc@engineering.uiowa.edu
Note:
We cannot accept or respond to attachments of any kind (i.e.,
MS Word documents, zip files, etc.)
