ENGINEERING
CONNECTION MENTORS
- For the Fall of 2007, we had 64 mentors in
Engineering Connection! They were sophomore, junior, or senior
engineering students who had the desire to provide support to new
engineering students.
2007-2008 Mentors profiles will soon
be posted here 
How do I become a MENTOR?
Job Duties
- Attend the Engineering Connection
orientation and program training.
- Initiate contact with your assigned new student(s)
through e-mails messages and/or sending University
of Iowa
postcards. (Summer)
- Assist with planning and attend social
events for all engineering freshmen. (Fall and Spring Semester)
- Contact your assigned student(s) at least
once a week to check in, answer questions, invite them to meet with
you, etc. (Fall semester)
- Contact your assigned student(s) as needed
to offer support and check-in. (Spring Semester)
- Offer to meet face-to-face to talk about
the transition to college, the Engineering program, and how they are
doing.
- Attend occasional meetings over the course
of the year to discuss operations of Engineering Connection program.
