Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy
What is the Academy?
The Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy was created to honor University of Iowa engineering alumni for their personal contribution toward engineering achievement, leadership, and service to the profession and to society.
When did the Academy begin?
The charter induction ceremony took place February 24, 1996, in conjunction with National Engineer's Week.
How does someone become a member of the Academy?
Inductees are nominated by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and anyone else who wishes to submit a nomination. A nomination review committee reviews all nominations received and recommends the most outstanding nominees to the College of Engineering Dean for final selection.
Who are the current members of the Academy?
Sixty-one alumni have been inducted to date. Their names and biographical sketches can be found on the membership page. The members also are featured in a permanent display outside the Stanley Auditorium in the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences.
How do I nominate someone?
See our nominations page to find out the procedure for nominating an individual. Nominations are due December 31, 2013, for induction in 2014.
