Dan Grimes is a native Iowan who stayed close to the University of Iowa after graduating in 2000 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, Dan spent 5 years as a Technical Director at Parkview Church in Iowa City. In 2003, Dan took a Quality Engineer position with Centro Inc in North Liberty, Iowa. Centro is the largest Custom Rotational Molder of plastics in the U.S. After about 9 months in Quality, Dan took the position of Research & Development Engineer where he has taken over efforts to develop competitive advantages for the company. Centro continues to grow as an industry leader in custom rotationally molded parts. Dan was able to contribute in the development and patent writing process of the patent pending low permeation fuel tank technology called RotoLoPerm®, which has proven to be a very successful part of the business.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys spending time with family and serving at Parkview Church and overseas as an advocate for orphans and vulnerable children in Ethiopia through support of an organization called Yezelalem Minch where he serves as an Advisory Board Member. He joined the Chemical/Biochemical Engineer Advisory Board in 2013.
