The Peer Advisor program is a resource developed by students, for students. They offer advice on their respective majors, course combinations, course loads, and share their personal experiences through their journey to a career in engineering. Additionally, they provide support to their peers through workshops and outreach using the MAP-Works system.
Come to the Student Development Center, 3124 Seamans Center, between 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM for assistance with your questions about majors, general education courses or policies and procedures. The Peer Advisors work closely with the professional academic advising staff.
Peer Advisor Workshops
In both the spring and fall semester, the Peer Advisors offer workshops to assist students in preparation for their academic advising appointments with their advisor. This year they are offering two types of workshops: Pre-Advising Workshops and EFA Workshops. Times and locations can be found by clicking the link below.
Pre-advising Workshops provide guidance to first and second year students on course selection for summer and fall 2015. Topics include general education requirements, tips and tricks for course sequencing, College of Engineering policies and procedures, transferring courses from different institutions, and opportunities for involvement outside of class. Each Peer Advisor is equipped with knowledge and resources to answer most questions.
EFA Workshops provide guidance to any students interested in learning more about filling out EFAs. This workshop is particularly helpful for sophomores and juniors. Each major has its own specifications and requirements which the Peer Advisor will go over in detail. Bring your questions, the Peer Advisors are ready to answer them.
