Deans and Department Chairs Quarterly Meetings

The UI and ISU Colleges of Engineering Deans' Offices meet several times yearly to share information on curriculum, programs, and potential joint initiatives - including teaching, research, and outreach activities.

Iowa Distinguished Engineering Faculty Lecture Series

The Iowa Distinguished Engineering Faculty Lecture Series is a shared program between the Colleges of Engineering at The University of Iowa and Iowa State University. The college-wide lectures are intended to enable winners of the annual Engineering Research Award at each College of Engineering to lecture to students and faculty on both the visiting and home University campuses.

In addition, other seminars which focus on specific departments at the colleges were conducted in Ames and Iowa City throughout the year.

Course Exchanges

The colleges continue to enhance each other's curriculum with courses taught via the Iowa Communications Network.

A-Week-on-Campus Faculty Exchanges

Faculty of both Colleges conduct one-week visits to incorporate collaborative research with student seminars.

Events

National Engineers Week -- During National Engineers Week in February, the two Colleges of Engineering co-sponsor a Legislative Breakfast at the State Capitol, joint presentations by the Deans to civic and economic development groups throughout the state, and student outreach events.

Invent Iowa -- Both Colleges of Engineering help sponsor the state competition of Invent Iowa, an opportunity for middle, junior high, and high school students to develop inventions, inspiring creativity and technological knowledge. Invent Iowa is coordinated by the Belin & Blank International Center for Gifted Education & Talent.

Scholarships -- The Colleges of Engineering co-sponsor scholarships to attend either College for student winners of events throughout the year, such as regional Future City Competition in Cedar Rapids, MATHCOUNTS State Competition in Des Moines, Eastern Iowa Science & Engineering Fair, and Invent Iowa Invention Convention, which alternates annually between Iowa City and Ames.
