Together, Iowa's
engineering colleges have educated some of Iowa's brightest and most
promising students, more than 11,000 of whom have chosen to live and
work in the state.
Iowa-trained engineers work
in nearly 900 Iowa manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, utility,
construction, educational, and health care companies and dozens
of state government agencies. In the last five years alone, nearly
200 Iowa firms and organizations have hired graduates of the state's
engineering colleges. And the Iowa and Iowa State schools consistently
rank among the best engineering programs in the country.
But the
educational mission of Iowa's engineering colleges
reaches far beyond the two campuses to affect citizens
and businesses across the state. In a world where
quick-change technologies challenge even the most
seasoned engineer and new ideas burst into successful new
businesses, engineering education is a lifelong process.
Through programs in continuing education and
long-distance learning, Iowa's Engineering Colleges are
dedicated to helping the state's professionals and
businesses continue to grow. The colleges are meeting the
explosive interest in off-campus education by:
- Designing and delivering
cutting-edge courses
- Developing better software
for the delivery of courses to Iowa companies and communities
- Offering access to education
across the state through the uniquely advanced fiber optic system,
the Iowa Communication Network, and the National Technological
University.
- Offering a Bachelor's
of Science degree in Engineering program in Cedar Rapids, IA
- Offering
an integrated 26-month dual degree graduate program for practicing
engineers through The University of Iowa Henry B. Tippie School
of Management and the Iowa State University College of Engineering
