The new 29.0.1 version of Firefox fixes the problem with PDF pages that got printed as blank pages. If your machine is administered and Firefox was not running last night, you have the update. To update on your own, close Firefox and go to the Symantec Management Agent in the system tray. On the Software Deliver tab, you'll see that Mozilla Firefox 29.0.1 is Not compliant... Highlight Mozilla FIrefox 29.0.1, which makes it show up as the Application Task in the left column. Click on that Firefox link and version 29.0.1 will be installed.

Microsoft announced a zero day exploit for Internet Explorer versions 6-11 that takes advantage of a Flash vulnerability. ECS has modified Windows so that if you close and re-open IE after 11:30am 4/30/14, you will be protected from that exploit. To ensure that all managed computers are protected, ECS will close all open IE sessions at 5pm on Wednesday, 4/30/14. Please close IE before that time.
For personally administered Windows computers, run Windows update because Microsoft put out a patch for the IE exploit on 5/1/14.
May 1, 2014 - 2:00pm

NoMachine was removed from lab computers on 4/10/14 because of the OpenSSL exploit. Use FastX for the same functionality.
April 11, 2014 - 4:30pm
Now that the OpenSSL exploit has been discovered and you may be changing passwords in many places, consider using a password manager for that task. Here are 4 recommended by the ECS sysadmins. All products have products for several platforms (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux).
