Fortus 400 3D printer

US capitol made on Fortus 400 3d printer

At the end of October 2012, the new Fortus 400 3D printer was hooked up and calibrated. The build box is 16" x 14" x 16" and there are four bays for materials, 2 for build material and 2 for support material. This printer can handle a wide range of production-grade thermoplastics, include ABS and ULTEM.

Faculty are already prepared to use the new printer. A class project for Professor Ozbolot's Biomanufacturing course will include printing vertebrae on the printer. His Design for Manufacturing students will print car bodies for the long jump car project.

See the photos that show preparing the material cannisters, loading them into the machine, a calibration box, and the first product from the printer.
