I am responsible for advising students as they enter the College at orientation as well as continuing to advise the undeclared engineering students until a major is declared. I also coordinate the two-day off campus Student Leadership Retreats, which provide participants an opportunity to practice leadership skills while working on teams to solve case studies presented by Engineering Alumni. I provide individual coaching to develop strategies for improving academic performance for all students on probation and support them throughout the semester.
It has been my privilege to meet and serve engineering students for the past 18 years as they pursue a career in engineering. My position was created when the Student Development Center was considered a one-stop-service, which has since grown into a full academic and professional service for students. I received a Bachelor's degree in education, a Master's degree in counseling and a Master's degree in post-secondary student development all from The University of Iowa. I am a national certified counselor, certified facilitator of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and I am certified by Franklin Convey as a personal coach.
I encourage students to call the Student Development Center to arrange an appointment with me to discuss various topics ranging from grades and classes to personal issues.
