I am responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing many of the College of Engineering’s outreach events and diversity programs. I track outcomes of these activities to quantify their effectiveness. In addition to supporting the entire OASIS team, I assist the offices of Associate Dean Peeples and Associate Dean Sonka.
Before coming to the University of Iowa, I worked as a civil engineer in Bay City, Michigan, specializing in environmental sampling and geotechnical design. In that position I worked directly with rural livestock farmers, helping them understand environmental regulations and the design process. These relationships sparked my passion for engaging community members with the STEM disciplines. Now, I get to work with future and current UI students to support and encourage them as they become engineers.
