    New ANSYS 15 and License Change

    On Monday, 8/25/14, ECS will be running ANSYS v. 15. This new version runs under a new license that changes research use of the software. If you use ANSYS for research, please contact the ECS Main Office, 1256 SC, 319-335-5751, to get information about the new license.

    ICON 10 Training Materials

    ITS just posted the ICON 10 Point-N-Click training materials. Learn how to use ICON’s Content tool to make course materials and related links available to your students in a timely, easily accessible manner. There are sample download files to use with this self-paced training.

    ITS Wireless Maintenance 8/14/14 6-7am

    August 14, 2014 - 6:00am to 7:00am

    There is a scheduled Wi-Fi maintenance window on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM for the Seamans Center.

    This maintenance is necessary to upgrade the wireless equipment servicing this area.  The outage should last approximately five minutes, but the entire window is scheduled to cover contingencies.

    UICapture/Panopto Upgrade 8/13/14

    August 13, 2014 - 6:00am to 11:00am

    The UICapture/Panopto service will be upgraded to version 4.6.1 on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 beginning at 6:00 AM.  The upgrade is expected to last 5 hours during which time the viewing and uploading service will be interrupted.  Users can record in offline mode and upload after the upgrade is completed.

    Print Quota Increased to $40

    August 1, 2014 - 11:15am

    Beginning with the fall 2014 semester, student print quota will be $40 per semester, fall, spring, and summer. Printing - All You Need to Know has been updated to reflect this change.

    ITS Wireless Replacement Completed - Need Feedback

    July 31, 2014 - 1:30pm

    As we announced, ITS replaced the wireless network access points (APs) to provide more robust coverage in SC. All of the new APs have been installed as of 7/31/14, some in different places than the ones they replaced, and many APs have been added. ITS would like feedback on how well the new APs are working. ITS can make configuration changes, move or add APs, and make other adjustment if they know where coverage is weak or inconsistent. Please report dead spots to the Engineering Help Desk, 319-335-5055.

    UI Wireless Maintenance 7/31/14 6-6:30am

    July 31, 2014 - 6:00am to 6:30am

    ITS has scheduled a wireless maintenance for the Seamans Center on Thursday, July 31st from 6:00 AM to 6:30 AM.

    This is necessary to complete the transition of Seamans Center to the new Aruba wireless architecture.  The outage should be less than 5 minutes in any given are, but the entire window is reserved.

    File Server Maintenance 7/25/14, 8pm - 8am 7/26

    July 25, 2014 - 8:00pm to July 26, 2014 - 8:00am

    ECS will take the home directory and share file server down for maintenance on Friday, 25 July, beginning at 8pm. The file server will be back up by 8am, Saturday, 26 July. All home and share files will be unavailable during this time.

    UI Wireless Maintenance 7/27/14 6am-noon

    July 27, 2014 - 6:00am to 12:00pm

    ITS has scheduled a campus wireless maintenance on Sunday, July 27th from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. During this time wireless connectivity will be unavailable for periods of time.

    NOTE:  This affects the wireless network only.

    This maintenance is necessary to upgrade network equipment software.

    Eduroam Wireless Downtime on 7/24/14 7-8am

    July 24, 2014 - 7:00am to 8:00am

    ITS will be performing maintenance to the Eduroam campus wireless network on Thursday, July 24th from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

    During this time, access to the Internet from the Eduroam wireless service will be unavailable for a period of time.

    Access to on campus resources should remain available and access to the Internet via ATTWifi should remain available as well.  This maintenance is necessary to upgrade networking equipment software.
