With the help of our Corporate Sponsors, the Ethnic Inclusion Effort for Iowa Engineering and Department of Physics and Astronomy developed the Accurate Reckoning Collaboration (ARC) program. The purpose of ARC is to expose pre-college underrepresented minority students to potential careers in science and engineering, recommend a successful curriculum to prepare them for college as science or engineering majors, and introduce them to science and engineering professors and other professionals who are on the forefront of cutting-edge technology and science development.

I am currently working on a project that uses microbial cells to produce chemicals in an environmentally safe manner. My project is in collaboration with the Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry department in the College of Pharmacy. Without the Ethnic Inclusion for Iowa, I would not have known about the many opportunities Iowa has to offer.
