Randall and Barbara Meyer
"Grabbing the Globe" Seminar Series

The College of Engineering features a special seminar series designed to better prepare engineering students for global success. Titled "Grabbing the Globe," the series supports the College's strategic goal for undergraduate education:

To create a collegiate experience that encourages intellectual rigor and productive teamwork and results in the graduation of engineers who are well equipped to succeed in the global workplace.

Key corporate, alumni, government, and academic leaders are invited to present their views, perspectives, and experiences on succeeding professionally and technologically in a global marketplace.

The seminar recognizes UI Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy member Randall Meyer (BS 1948 with highest distinction in mechanical engineering) and his wife, Barbara.

The seminars are scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Each seminar covers a brief overview of the company and its international business; various types of engineering and technology positions/opportunities at the company; skills, courses, and interests that students should consider; views on the importance of being globally aware, adept, and adaptable; and a question-and-answer period.
