The Explore engineering@iowaprogram provides an opportunity for future students of the College of Engineering to learn more about what makes our College an exceptional educational choice. Each program includes:
- A student panel
- Demonstrations by faculty members and tours of interesting research labs
- Breakout sessions with current students
- An optional walking campus tour and general information session in the morning (Contact the Admissions Visitors Center at 1-800-553-IOWA.)
- Door prizes, including tee shirts and Engineering "start-up" awards!
Throughout the day, we hope to give you insight on why Iowa’s engineering program is a great option for bright students like you. You’ll have the opportunity to meet current students, faculty members, and other prospective students looking to join our “team." Visit with Engineering faculty and staff, such as:
- David Wilder, associate professor of biomedical engineering and senior research scientist of theJolt/Vibration/Seating Lab in the Iowa Spine Research Center
- Alec Scranton, professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and associate dean for academic programs
- Larry Weber, Donald E. Bently Faculty Fellow of Engineering, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering and director of IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering
- Tom Casavant, Roy J. Carver, Jr. Chair in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, professor of electrical and computer engineering and biomedical engineering, and director of the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
- Geb Thomas, associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering and director of the Graphical Representation of Knowledge (GROK) Laboratory
- Al Ratner, assistant professor of mechanical and industrial engineering, and director of the Combustion and High Speed Fluid Mechanics Lab
