Thanks to the generous donations from alumni and friends, the College of Engineering has hundreds scholarships that provide financial support for admitted and enrolled undergraduate engineering students. Scholarships may be based upon merit and/or financial need ranging in award amounts. The college welcomes diversity in the student body, and encourages women and students from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds to apply.
2016-2017 Scholarship Application Dates & Deadlines
The scholarship application for all students (first-year students, transfer students, and current undergraduates) is now available.
Deadline for returning students: April 1, 2016
Scholarship award notifications for returning students will begin in early May 2016
Deadline for incoming first-year students : January 31, 2016
Scholarship award notifications for incoming students will begin in March 2016
Deadline for incoming transfer students: March 1, 2016
To be considered for the College of Engineering scholarship opportunities simply complete the University of Iowa scholarship application through the Iowa Scholarship Portal. You will be notified through your University of Iowa email account of any scholarship awards or additional needed materials, so please be sure to check your account regularly.
The application deadline for the 2015-2016 academic year has passed.

Electrical & Computer Engineering Scholarships
The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department offers scholarship opportunities for undergraduate, transfer and first-year students with excellent academic records. These may be awarded in addition to scholarships offered by the College of Engineering. IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering
IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering (IIHR) offers fellowship which was established to provide an opportunity for undergraduates to become involved in hydroscience (hydraulic, fluid-mechanic, or hydrologic) research in the hope that they will be encouraged to pursue graduate studies at IIHR. Criteria and application information may be found through the IIHR website.
The fellowship recipient will be announced each spring when other awards are made to engineering undergraduates by the College of Engineering. The award, $2,500 for one year, is presented for the following fall semester.

Grants for Unpaid and Global Internships
The College of Engineering is invested in supporting experiential education opportunities that foster a student’s personal and professional development. Engineering Professional Development offers grants for engineering students to pursue high-quality, unpaid internships for global, non-profit, academic or non-partisan governmental experiences. Although unpaid, The College of Engineering values these experiences for their ability to foster the student’s career exploration, enhance their academic program, provide networking opportunities, and develop leadership skills.
