Alumna Ryerson Recognized by Quad City Engineering and Science Council
At its 51st Annual National Engineers Week Banquet held on February 20, the Quad City Engineering and Science Council (QCESC) recognized UI Engineering alumna Anne Ryerson with its 2013 Junior Engineer of the Year Award. The QCESC numbers 36 local engineering and technical societies with a total membership of 5,000 engineers and scientists. The QCESC also promotes engineering and science to area youth through scholarship and engineering competition programs.
Ryerson is a member of the college's Young Alumni Advisory Board and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board.
She is a product safety and compliance engineer at the John Deere Global Crop Harvesting Product Development Center. A member of several national and international standards development committees within the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), she is also active in local outreach programs to promote engineering education and a mentor of a FIRST LEGO League team in the Geneseo schools. Currently an active volunteer with LiveUncommon and the Southwest Elementary School PTA’s Healthy Initiatives committee, Anne has also volunteered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Geneseo Humane Society, Junior Achievement; and is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts.
