Brad Conlan (BSE 2004 biomedical engineering) will receive the Dean’s Award for Early Career Achievement (http://www.engineering.uiowa.edu/deans-award-early-career-achievement) May 5, to be presented by Engineering dean Alec Scranton.

Conlan also will deliver a special seminar that day on "The Value Generating Start-Up: A cash flow positive approach to innovation" from 3:30-4:20 p.m. in the Stanley Auditorium, 1505 Seamans Center.

Conlan is founder and CEO of Puregraft LLC, a leader in the development and commercialization of closed, sterile fat grafting solutions. Puregraft technology can provide a surgeon with purified adipose tissue for reinjection. The technology is used today in hospitals around the world to provide surgeons with confidence and convenience. With the addition of future convenience features, Puregraft LLC is positioned to continue its leadership in the growing, fat grafting marketplace.

Conlan is also CEO of Kerastem Technologies, a regenerative medicine company dedicated to the hair field. Kerastem’s core technology is currently in clinical development in the United States and Europe and is poised to address the billion dollar hair market through innovative regenerative medicine products.

Conlan has worked in the regenerative medicine space for nearly 10 years, most recently with Cytori Therapeutics(NASDAQ: CYTX) where he served as the Company’s Director of Global Marketing as well as head of the Regenerative Medicine Business Unit. During his time at Cytori, Conlan was directly responsible for the research and development of the Celution Cell Therapy and Puregraft Far Grafting products and managed cross functional teams that drove the products from concept to commercialization.

The Dean’s Award for Early Career Development is presented to alumni under 40 years old at the time of selection who have accomplished remarkable early career success with their professional field or industry.
