Er-Wei Bai, professor and departmental executive officer of electrical and computer engineering, delivered two keynote speeches recently in the United Kingdom.

The first was presented September 2 during the United Kingdom Automatic Control Council (UKACC) biennial International Conference on Control (http://www.qub.ac.uk/sites/Control2016). Established in the 1950’s, UKACC is an umbrella organization of several United Kingdom professional societies including the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Measurement and Control, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

Bai also delivered a keynote speech August 30 during the UK-China Consortium on Shaping Low Carbon Energy Future in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The consortium was attended and supported by managing officials from the United Kingdom funding agency Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC), British Council Newton Fund, and National Science Foundation of China as well as the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China and Minister Counsellor of Science and Technology, Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom. The consortium brought together over 70 researchers and industrialists to discuss innovative ideas for shaping low carbon energy future.
