Biomedical Engineering Publishes Latest Newsletter
The Department of Biomedical Engineering has published its latest newsletter for Spring 2014.
Besides celebrating the department's 40th anniversary, the issue features profiles on Shayma Elsheikh, a May 2014 graduate of the department's undergraduate program. Elsheikh is one of a small number of students in the college selected to participate in the Engineering Grand Challenges program. Her grand challenge focus area is “providing access to clean water.” The second profile is of alumna Alyse Stofer, who graduated in 1997 with her BS in Biomedical Engineering. Stofer currently works at Medtronic and has been active as a national leader in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
For the third year in the row, the department has taken a group of students and faculty to the mid-April Design of Medical Devices Conference in Minneapolis. And also for the third time, the department and college held an alumni reception for area alumni during one evening of the conference. Nearly 100 faculty, students, alumni, and friends of the department and college got together for an evening of networking and reminiscing.
