Biomedical Engineering Signs Agreement with Yonsei University
The Biomedical Engineering Department has signed a dual BS/MS degree agreement with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Yonsei University, Wonju, South Korea.
The agreement will allow qualified Yonsei biomedical engineering students to enter the biomedical engineering masters program at Iowa directly after their junior undergraduate year at Yonsei. Students in the program will normally be able to complete both the BS for Yonsei University and the MS requirements for the University of Iowa in five years.
A delegation consisting of Joseph M. Reinhardt, Professor and Chair of Biomedical Engineering, Tae-Hong Lim, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, and Downing Thomas, Associate Provost and Dean of International Programs, traveled to South Korea last week to finalize the program details and sign the agreement. In addition to the BS/MS program agreement, Provost Thomas also signed a general memorandum of understanding between Yonsei University and the University of Iowa to establish a framework within which students and faculty at the two institutions can collaborate on teaching and research.
While at Yonsei University, the Iowa faculty members met with Yonsei students and faculty, including Young Ho Kim (PhD Biomedical Engineering 1991), who is now a professor of Biomedical Engineering at Yonsei University.
