Butler to Receive University of Illinois Distinguished Alumni Service Award
Barry Butler, professor of mechanical engineering and executive vice president and provost of the University of Iowa, will receive the College of Engineering Alumni Award for Distinguished Service from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign April 21 at the Student and Alumni Award Ceremony.
Butler received three degrees from Illinois -- a B.S. degree in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering in 197; an M.S. degree in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering in 1981; and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1984.
The University of Illinois College of Engineering Alumni Award for Distinguished Service is conferred upon exceptional alumni each year. Recipients are recognized for professional distinction through outstanding leadership, contributions to the field of engineering, creativity, and entrepreneurship; as well as service to society, the professional community, and to the department, college, or university.
