College Hosts Wind Energy Seminar March 26

Randall Swisher, recently retired executive director of the American Wind Energy Association and UI political science alumnus, will speak on preparing for careers in wind energy in the global marketplace at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in Macbride Auditorium, Macbride Hall.

A part of the Randall and Barbara Meyer "Grabbing the Globe" Seminar Series, the free, public talk will review: the global and national wind energy industry; the American Wind Energy Association; various types of engineering and technology positions/opportunities; skills, courses, and interests that students should consider; and views on the importance of being globally aware, adept, and adaptable.

Swisher served at the American Wind Energy Association from 1989-2008. Earlier, he worked as legislative representative for the American Public Power Association and as energy program director for the National Association of Counties. He has also worked for the House Interior Committee's Energy and Water Subcommittee and for the D.C. Public Interest Research Group, where he first became involved with renewable energy advocacy in 1975.

The "Grabbing the Globe" Seminar Series is designed to prepare Engineering students for global success. It recognizes UI Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy member and retired Exxon USA president and CEO Randall Meyer and his wife, Barbara.
