David Cwiertny, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, associate faculty research engineer at IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering, and director of the Environmental Policy Research Program, Public Policy Center, has been named a Congressional Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for 2016-2017.

Cwiertny is one of only two Fellows chosen among more than 100 applicants.

He will spend the next year in Washington DC focusing on the science and technology in water policy.

AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships provide opportunities for scientists and engineers to learn first-hand about policymaking while contributing their knowledge and analytical skills in the federal policy realm. AAAS is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science.
