Engineering Graduates Honored at Commencement

College of Engineering commencement ceremonies were held Saturday, December 19, at MacBride Auditorium. Jon Kuhl, professor of electrical and computer engineering, gave the charge to the graduates. Nicholas Erdman gave the graduating senior address. UI Interim Vice President for Research, Jordan Cohen conferred 77 degrees.

Scott Ruebush, co-chair of Engineering Student Council, presented the graduating senior award, chosen through nomination by the senior class, to Jenna Smith.

Luke Arens graduated with highest distinction and Alex Poss graduated with distinction.

Honors graduates who attained a 3.3 grade point average and completed an honors project under the supervision of a faculty member were recognized. They are Brenton Steinmann, Zachary Rodenburg, and William Monroe.

Thirty-two candidates graduated with at least one minor: mathematics (18); business administration (4); computer science (4); biology (2); Spanish and Portuguese (2); international studies (1); music (1); psychology (1); and religion studies (1). Five candidates earned a double minor. One candidate earned a triple minor.

Earning a Technical Entrepreneurship Certificate were Brendan Camplin, Sean Reader, Magnus Wu, Bryan Schnicker, and Cody Pump.

Graduate commencement ceremonies were held Friday, December 18. Seventeen Masters of Science in Engineering degrees and nineteen PhD’s were conferred.
