Five College of Engineering researchers are featured in a new program launched by the UI Office of Research and Economic Development.

The Dare to Discover campaign showcases researchers, scholars, and creators from across the University of Iowa, through a series of banners

throughout downtown Iowa City and a special website.

Representing the College of Engineering are Karim Abdel-Malek, professor of biomedical engineering and director of the UI Center for Computer-Aided Design; Dan Ceynar, project engineer, IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering; Jennifer Fiegel, associate professor of chemical and biochemical engineering; Tom Schnell, associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering and director of the Operator Performance Laboratory; and Gabriele Villarini, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering.

The banners will be in place through February, after which time most will be moved into the University Capitol Centre to hang along the second-floor railings.

The on-going campaign will evolve over time, with subjects changing as new banners will be on display in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
