Engineering Student Goodweiler Wins Research Award
Nicholas Goodweiler, a junior in mechanical engineering, was awarded First Prize in the Best Student Paper competition in Musical Acoustics at the national meeting of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) held in Portland, Oregon, May 18-22.
The paper he presented, “Acoustics of single reed duck calls,” was a report on research done in the summer of 2008 at Coe College in Cedar Rapids under the direction of Professor of Physics James Cottingham.
All students presenting musical acoustics research at ASA meetings are invited to participate in the Best Student Paper Award competition. At each meeting two cash awards are given, with first and second prize winners selected.
