ExxonMobil Matches Gifts to UI; College of Engineering Benefits
University of Iowa News Release
ExxonMobil Foundation has made a gift to the University of Iowa Foundation of $107,625 as part of ExxonMobil Corporation's matching-gift program. The gift will support programs in math and science education, including programs in the College of Engineering.
When employees of ExxonMobil Corporation, their surviving spouses, retirees of the company or directors make a gift to the UI foundation to support any UI college or program, ExxonMobil multiplies their gifts by a factor of three and directs the matching gift to the UI area designated by the donor. In 2008, UI alumni and friends at ExxonMobil made 26 gifts to the UI foundation for a total of $36,375.
UI Foundation President and CEO Lynette L. Marshall applauded ExxonMobil's matching-gift program and expressed the university's appreciation for the contribution.
"This gift is a testament both to the employees of ExxonMobil who generously chose to include the UI in their charitable giving, and to ExxonMobil, which supports its employees' philanthropy with a particularly robust matching-gift program," Marshall said. "On behalf of all of us at the UI and the UI foundation, I extend our heartfelt thanks."
The UI acknowledges the UI Foundation as the preferred channel for private contributions that benefit all areas of the university. For more information about the foundation, visit its Web site at http://www.uifoundation.org.
