Chad Jafvert, professor of civil and environmental engineering at Purdue University, spoke on environmental processes controlling the fate of several chemicals and nanomaterials in the environment in his lecture, "Overloading Nature with Chemicals at Parts per Trillion to Parts per Hundred Concentrations."
Jafvert received his doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from the UI College of Engineering in 1985 and was the first doctoral student of Richard Valentine, UI professor of civil and environmental engineering since 1982 and a pioneer in disinfection byproducts research, including their chemistry and kinetics as applied to drinking water treatment and water distribution systems.
