Krajewski to Speak December 3 at Cafe Scientifique

 "River Networks and Floods," is the subject of a free, public talk from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursday, December 3, at T-Spoons, corner of Linn and Market streets.  Witold Krajewski, Rose & Joseph Summers Chair in Water Resources Engineering and Director of the Iowa Flood Center, will speak.

Krajewski, professor of civil and environmental engineering and a faculty research engineering at IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering, will talk about the hydrologic genesis of floods and discuss the role of rainfall, soil moisture, land cover, and in particular, the role of the stream and river drainage network.  The talk will be illustrated with the results of his studies of the Iowa 2008 floods.
