Saturday, May 29, 2010

Andrew Kusiak, professor of mechanical and industrial engineering, has been elected chair of the Asian-Pacific Wind Energy Forum.

Kusiak is instrumental in helping lead development of teaching and research initiatives in wind energy in the College of Engineering.  For example, he worked to launch an MS degree in industrial engineering with a graduate focus area in wind power management, designed to educate professionals for design, operations, and management of wind farms deployed in massive numbers all over the country.

The forum recently met in Iowa City, prior to the American Wind Energy Association Conference in Dallas, TX, to discuss wind energy technologies and ways to improve collaboration, and to visit Clipper Windpower, Cedar Rapids, IA.
