Ozbolat to Receive SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award

Ibrahim Ozbolat, assistant professor of mechanical and industrial engineering and co-director of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Group at the UI Center for Computer-Aided Design, is the recipient of the 2014 SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award.

Since 1980, the award has honored innovators aged 35 and younger in both academia and industry for exceptional accomplishments, such as technical publications, patents, or technical-professional leadership.

Ozbolat is leading the University of Iowa's Biomanufacturing Laboratory (BioMfG), specializing in bio-printing for organ fabrication, and the Electronic Manufacturing Team, and supervising the Design for Manufacturing Laboratory. He has been engaged in several projects sponsored by governmental agencies and private corporations in applications ranging from design and manufacturing to clinical medicine and energy.
