Peeples Appointed to Regional STEM Board

Tonya Peeples, professor of chemical and biochemical engineering, associate dean for diversity and outreach, and researcher at the UI Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing, has been appointed by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad to serve on the Southeast Regional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Advisory Board, effective July 1, 2014.

Created by Executive Order 74, the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council is a partnership of business, policy and education leaders from across the state convening to bolster STEM education and innovation and to better position Iowa’s young people and the state’s economy for the future. The Council is co-chaired by Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds and Vermeer Corporation President and CEO Mary Vermeer Andringa. The executive director of the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council is Dr. Jeff Weld.
