Pooley Featured in Obermann Video
University of Iowa 2013 Obermann Graduate Fellow Mark Pooley, a PhD candidate in civil engineering, is dedicated to thinking about how to make bicycle commuting more accessible. It is an issue he explored during his MA in Urban and Regional Planning.
In addition to his research about transportation, Pooley is active with several local biking organizations. Last winter, he helped to organize the Winter Biking Challenge. To learn more about his work, go to http://youtu.be/SC9Eh-n3hJk.
The Institute is a highly competitive program for graduate students across the university who are interested in developing publicly engaged dimensions for research, arts, and teaching. The weeklong Institute includes opportunities for students to think deeply about the evolution of engagement in higher education and practical applications to their own work. Each Fellow imagines and plans a project that combines an aspect of his or her research or teaching with a community partner.
