College of Engineering and IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering postdoctoral scholar Caroline (Carrie) Davis is featured in the current issue of Graduate Education at Iowa, a publication of the UI College of Graduate Education.  Davis is studying the Mississippi River at the Lucille A. Carver Mississippi Riverside Environmental Research Station near Fairport, IA.

Davis is operating real-time water quality sensors in the Lower Iowa River and Lake Odessa.  The sensors enable studies to be made of the Mississippi and its tributary streams for water quality fate and nutrient transport.  The research has many practical applications for agricultural stewardship and sustainability in Iowa and in the Upper Mississippi River.
