Registration Open for Industrial Biotechnology and Biopharmaceuticals Conference

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Registrations are being accepted for the 19th Annual Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing Conference entitled “Industrial Biotechnology and Biopharmaceuticals” held at the Iowa Memorial Union Oct. 18 and 19. The University of Iowa Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing (CBB) is hosting the conference.

The focus of this year’s conference is on a broad overview of biopharmaceuticals, biofuel/biochemical, directed evolution of industrial enzymes and a proteomics approach to secondary metabolites. The UI Center for Conferences is organizing the conference for students, faculty and biotechnology industry professionals and others who have interest in recent developments in the field of industrial biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals.

CBB has identified experts in each of these areas both from industry and academia. There will also be an update on CBB offerings, planned expansion and future direction.  In addition, a wide range of topics will be covered in the poster sessions. On-line registration is available for this conference but those interested can also register by contacting the UI Center for Conferences at 1-800-551-9029 or 319-335-4141. The cost to register is $250.

Mani V. Subramanian, UI professor of chemical and biochemical engineering, is director of CBB.
