Joseph Reinhardt, Donald E. Bently Faculty Fellow of Engineering and Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, has been appointed to a five-year term as departmental executive officer of Biomedical Engineering, effective immediately.

Reinhardt, who also serves as Image Analysis Group Leader in the Iowa Institute forBiomedical Imaging, brings a wealth of talent and experience to this important administrative position.

Engineering Dean P. Barry Butler noted that Reinhardt's experience in developing and launching the Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging initiated late last year, along with his expertise in co-founding VIDA Diagnostics, Inc. now at The University of Iowa Research Park, will play a major role in advancing the department's academic and research activities.

Reinhardt succeeds Edwin Dove, who has been interim departmental executive officer the past two years.

"I deeply appreciate the wisdom and counsel Professor Dove has provided, Butler said. "I encourage all College of Engineering faculty and staff to thank Professor Dove for his service to the College and in congratulating Professor Reinhardt as he begins his new leadership position."
