Michelle Riedinger, a senior majoring in civil engineering, has received the 2015 ASCE Student Leadership Award from the American Society of Civil Engineering

In its announcement, the ASCE Committee on Student Members remarked, "It is the enthusiasm and positive role-modeling of student leaders like you that inspire others and advance the development of strong, active student organizations."

Riedinger is currently serving as an engineering intern for the City of Iowa City, is an undergraduate research assistant at IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering, and is a College of Engineering Student Ambassador.  Last year, she served as an undergraduate teaching assistant.

She is president of the University of Iowa chapter of ASCE, captain of the college's concrete canoe project, and led the effort to design and build the 2014 Homecoming Corn Monument.

ASCE represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries. Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation’s oldest engineering society.
