Sander Receives Carver Charitable Trust Grant
Edward Sander, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, has received a two-year, $269,662 grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.
Sander will study the age-dependent biology of human skin cells in response to mechanical force.
The Carver Trust's goal in medical and scientific research is to provide support for innovative investigation that may hold great promise for advancing scientific knowledge and improving human health. It has recognized a variety of university-based scientific endeavors, most notably in the fields of medicine, engineering and the natural sciences. The focus of this program area is typically on the work of specific laboratories, often emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches and the development of untried, inherently risky research directions.
