Villarini Paper Accepted by American Water Resources Association
Gabrielle Villarini, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering and assistant faculty research engineer at IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering, has had a paper accepted for publication in the Journal of the American Water Resources Association.
The paper looks at flooding in Texas. Similar to what Villarini and his colleagues found in other areas of the US, human modifications of these basins do not allow the detection of a possible climate change signal. They also looked at the importance of tropical cyclones as a flood agent, and discovered that tropical cyclones are not responsible for the largest flooding in Texas, contrasting what they found for the eastern US.
