The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program has been recognized by the Iowa State Legislature as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.

In the issuance of a Certificate of Recognition, State Representative and assistant House Minority Leader Mary Mascher, the Iowa House of Representatives recognized the two decades that the WISE program has served young women pursuing careers in science and engineering.

Mascher shared the legislature's appreciation for WISE director Chris Peterson Brus's "leadership and commitment to helping young women develop and realize their potential in science, technology, engineering, and math.  This program has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for women to succeed in non-traditional careers.  Your efforts will make a difference in our global society."

She added, "It speaks well of the quality of education/innovative programs our students receive at Iowa and we wish to thank you and your staff for contributing to that quality."

WISE is a unit of the Diversity and Outreach group of the College of Engineering.  It is dedicated to expanding and improving educational and professional opportunities for women in all fields of STEM by facilitating individual, institutional, and social change.
