Zhupanska Receives Best Paper Award
A paper by Olesya Zhupanska, Robert and Virginia Wheeler Faculty Fellow of Engineering, associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering, and researcher at the UI Center for Computer-Aided Design, has been selected to receive the Best Paper Award from the American Society for Composites. The paper is titled "Effect of Carbon Nanotube Buckypaper Layers on the Electrical and Impact Response of IM7/977-3 Composite Laminates."
The paper is co-authored with her graduate students Chris Hill and Yeqing Wang. Hill graduated with a BS/MS degree in mechanical engineering in Spring 2011 and currently works as a design engineer at Case New Holland's North American Headquarters in Burr Ridge, IL . Yeqing Wang is currently a PhD student in the mechanical engineering program.
The society provides a communication forum for the engineering and scientific community in composite materials, expedite the growth of knowledge gained from inter-disciplinary engineering and scientific research in composite materials, and promotes the exploitation of the unique properties of composite materials in emerging applications.
