Areas of Research

Research in the biomaterials laboratory involves the modification of the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) to be chemically adhered to the polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement for better fixation of implants made of UHMWPE such as acetabular cup of hip and tibial plateau of knee joint.

Another area of research is the use of thermal seeds to heat the prostate tissues for the BPH. The development of PdCo alloy seeds and testing of the seeds in various conditions have been resulted in the clinical trial stage.
