Mechanical evaluation of artificial heart valves and ventricular assist devices; closing dynamics of mechanical heart valves, cavitation bubble visualization, negative pressure transients, and velocity of valves during closure, simulation of closing dynamics, correlation of mechanical stresses due to valve closure and thrombus deposition, in vivo measurement of negative pressure transients.

Hemodynamics, Fluid Dynamics in Curved Tubes

Experimental and computational flow dynamics simulation of flow in the human aorta, three-dimensional flow analysis in the aorta and aortic bifurcation, flow dynamics and wall shear stress computation in vessels with lesions, three-dimensional reconstruction of arterial segments from intravascular ultrasound imaging and computational flow analysis, fluid dynamic analysis in vascular graft anastamosis.

Cardiovascular Mechanics, Cardiovascular Imaging (3-D Reconstruction, Mechanical Analysis)

Three-dimensional reconstruction of the human left ventricle and vascular segments from various imaging modalities (vascular and cardiac ultrasound, cine comuted tomography and magnetic resonance imaging), analysis of regional material property distribution in normal and diseased cardiac and vascular segments using finite element analysis and optimization, analysis of vascular reactivity with the onset of atherosclerosis.
