Ruben Rojas (a Ph.D. candidate) is designing a new control scheme for a hot-air isolette (incubator). The design has the goal of decreasing the isolette's sensitivity to external disturbances such as opening the isolette for feeding, changing diapers, etc. The scheme uses a model-reference adaptive control structure with multiple-inputs and a single-output. The response of the new algorithm is being compared to the response of the existing PI controller, and the controller of the ALCYON system.
