At present, faculty with major commitments to the Center come from the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Orthopaedics. These members are fully supported by the respective departments (9-month salary support for biomedical engineering faculty and 11-month salary support for the faculty from Orthopaedics). These members interact with faculty and staff from other units (on and off campus) to pursue research, in compliance with the mission of the Center. Besides this, a large number of undergraduate and graduate students, supported through project funds, work within the Center. These students, while helping the Center staff meet their contractual obligations, earn their degree objectives (e.g., master and doctoral) by working on projects. A number of medical students, residents and fellows also assist the Center Staff. Several projects involve faculty and staff from neurosurgery and other units on and off campus.
