![]() Steel Ring Operation
Unlike most organizations, Steel Ring has no officers. Each semester Steel Ring carries out specific projects directed toward achieving its goals. The projects are defined jointly by the Undergraduate Committee and by Steel Ring. For each specific project a task force is formed and a task-force leader either volunteers or is appointed by the Undergraduate Committee. Each member of Steel Ring ultimately shares responsibility for all tasks the organization undertakes even though an individual might not be personally involved in every project. This method of operation provides many opportunities for practicing leadership and interacting with different subgroups of the organization. It also creates a strong interdependence and high expectations for initiative and cooperation from all members. Steel Ring also performs several ongoing functions. These include posting timely and interesting information on the Steel Ring bulletin board and the sring news display and managing communications with nonmembers via sring news.
