ANSYS CFD Information
The version running on the Engineering Computer Network workstations is the university high edition, which is available only to students. It has the same features as the commercial version, but has help files and other resources that are geared towards university students.

ANSYS CFD (includes FLUENT) Description
ANSYS CFD includes both ANSYS CFX and ANSYS FLUENT. ANSYS CFD is a comprehensive product suite for modeling fluid flow and other related physical phenomena. It contains both general purpose computational fluid dynamics software -- ANSYS CFX and ANSYS FLUENT --and additional specialized products to address specific industry applications.
ANSYS CFD Usage
We have 75 ANSYS CFD teaching licenses and 25 ANSYS CFD research licenses. [The research licenses have all been purchased by specific groups in the College.] On Linux you must set the license preference to use the research license, as explained below:
- Run anslic_admin
- From Global Settings, select Use Academic License. (The default is Commercial License.)
- If the license ANSYS Academic Research CFD is not at the top of the list, select the Move Up button (to the right of the main window) until the license is at the top of the list.
- Select Apply, then OK.
On Windows from the Start button, go to All Programs | ANSYS 12.0 or ANSYS 12.1 and select Fluid Dynamics. ANSYS 12.1 includes all the CFD tools. ANSYS 12.0 contains only FLUENT.
The educational version of ANSYS has the following constraints:

Many ANSYS tutorials are available on the ANSYS site including a tutorial called Introduction to ANSYS FLUENT. To view these tutorials, you must create an account with ANSYS that requires your customer number.
