What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?

Manage your time - create a schedule each week that includes everything: classes, studying, sleeping, office hours, student orgs, hanging out, etc.

What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to?

NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers), UISG (University of Iowa Student Government), IBC (Iowa Business Consulting), Mentor Match, MESA (Multi-Ethnic Engineering and Science Association)

How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?

I am a Professional Development Peer Advisor at the College of Engineering Student Development Center and I tutor kids in grades 5-12 through Mesa Tutoring. I also served as the President of the NSBE chapter and as a Senator for the University of Iowa Student Government.

Is there something else you'd like to tell us about yourself?

I speak Arabic and some Spanish. I also started studying at the Seamans Center in the 9th grade so feel free to reach out for a world-class tour!

What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?

Being able to be a part of a great Engineering program at a University that has so much to offer in terms of a nice campus, a wide variety of student organizations, and lots of resources, all while being in a great city.

Who is your favorite professor and why?

Professor Pennathur - both of them. They are both great at teaching and really focus on preparing students and helping them succeed in their classes.

What has been your favorite course?

Mediocrity is Not an Option, a seminar taught by Bob Chiusano that focuses on leadership, networking, mentoring, ethics, giving back, and creating your personal and professional legacy.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?

In my free time, I enjoy playing sports. I have played on basketball, soccer, and water polo intramural teams. I also enjoy eating out with friends at different restaurants in Iowa City.
