What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman? It’s okay to not know exactly what you want to do when you start college. College is the perfect time to find out what you are interested in and discover the right career path for you, so be open to checking out different paths and fields that you may not have been exposed to in high school.
What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to? I am in Campus Activities Board (CAB), Society of Women Engineers, and WiSE Ambassadors.
How are you an "engineer ... and something more"? I am an engineer and I also love to sing and do art projects in my free time.
Is there something else you'd like to tell us about yourself? I did not switch to engineering until the summer before my sophomore year, and was drawn to it by the broad range of careers available and the emphasis on problem solving in the classes.
What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa? I love all the awesome events Iowa holds on its campus, from lectures to concerts, and even though Iowa is a big campus, the College of Engineering feels like a real community.
Who is your favorite professor and why? Cinda Coggins-Mosher, she was my rhetoric professor freshman year and showed me the importance of having dynamic, open discussions about everything from movies to current issues.
What has been your favorite course? My favorite courses would be Introduction to Disability Studies because it was very informative, and Engineering Math 2 because I enjoyed the visual and 3D applications.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa? I love trying out all the different local food and coffee places downtown, and seeing movies in my free time!
